Pharmacological Action of Halogenated Inhaled Anethestics

Abstract
Isoflurane is the newest potent halogenated inhaled anesthetic available for clinical use. But halothane is the primary potent inhaled anesthetic nowadays. Despite possessed by halothane, it become apparent that it also possessed deficiencies. Particular concern arose over the rare patient who suffered liver damage following halothane anesthesia. Therefore, the search for a better agent went on. Enflurane, and now isoflurane were the results of these efforts.
The purpose of this discussion is to compare the properties of isoflurane with enflurane and halothane, to identify whether it represents another advance in our progress towards the ideal anesthetic
